Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Throughout my time at Stanford, I placed a heavy emphasis on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, mentorship, research, and community service. My commitment to excellence and diversity, was recognized through several accolades, including the HENAAC Outstanding Engineering Graduate Student Leadership Award and the Stanford School of Engineering Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Graduation Award twice.

Mentorship

I served as an academic mentor for several undergraduates through community centers (e.g., Stanford's Centro Chicano y Latino) and formal programs (e.g., Stanford/Berkeley's Graduate Pathways to STEM and Stanford's SURF program). I also served on numerous panels aimed at guiding diverse undergraduate students on how to put together a successful graduate application, and how to be successful during their graduate studies.

Recruiting

I attended and recruited at several conferences on behalf of Stanford to persuade URMs to apply to their graduate engineering programs, including the SHPE, SWE, and GEM National Conferences.

Committees

I served on numerous committees and boards aimed at improving diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the Electrical Engineering Department's DEI committee, and the admission's committees of the Electrical Engineering Department's graduate programs and the Stanford SURF program. I was also on the executive team of SERIO, an organization aimed at supporting and nurturing underrepresented undergraduate students on their path towards graduate-level STEM education.
